Minimum requirements for product images on Amazon

The following requirements must be applied to your photos when uploading them to Amazon to avoid Amazon’s visual and technical proofs. (requirements for different products may differ)

  • Formats: JPEG, PNG preferredy GIF
  • Only photos are allowed, no line drawings.
  • The object or subject must occupy
    about 85% of the image
  • sRGB color mode, 8 bits per channel
  • Resolution: 72 DPI, image size 500 to
    3000 pixels wide or tall.
  • Pure white background (hex #ffffff) – photography on white background
    is not enought
  • To zoom, the longest page must be 1280
    at 3000 pixels, minimum size 2560
    recommended pixels.
  • No frame, no text (except text on the product itself), no watermarks, no information coming from amazon.com
  • Individual product categories have
    additional requirements to which

Minimum requirements for product images on EBay

Although not as extensive as Amazon, E-Bay also has specific criteria for its product images and “gallery images.” This criteria also requires review of product photos and may also vary in different product areas:

  • Minimum image size: 500 pixels,
    1,600 pixels recommended
  • Neutral background
  • No text, no graphics, no frame
  • No standard or catalog image
    for used products
  • The watermark cannot hide the products,
    max 5% of the image, max. Opacity 50%
